Forest School – It was wet last week! In rainy weather every child wears wellies with dungarees and a waterproof coat over that. We put up a shelter so we can sit, play and make things in a dry space. We have warm water, soap and a towel available for muddy hands. We also have a warm drink half-way through.
This week we explored and collected different coloured leaves for some Autumn natural artwork. Highlights were watching rain gush off our shelter; opening conker cases to find conkers inside; looking at the beautiful orange and red horse chestnuts by the play area and hearing someone who didn’t want to wear outdoor clothes on the first session say that putting on her wellies was her favourite thing.
If we encourage children to make the most of the rainy days then they’ll build resilience to cope with all that life can throw at them and last week there were lots of smiles.

Year 4 had a great time at the Grosvenor Museum in Chester on Friday. The trip gave the children the chance to investigate the Romanisation of Britain and explore life in Roman Chester.
At Heybrook School we always try to help those in need. With this in mind, we have decided to support Rochdale Food Bank. This is an organisation that provides essential food items and toiletries to those facing hardship.
The children have had an assembly about what food banks do and why people need to use food banks.
We are asking for donations to be brought into school so that we can pass them onto Rochdale Food Bank.
They are in URGENT need of:
- jam/honey custard
- tinned fruit biscuits
- fruit juice tinned tomatoes
- toiletries instant mash
- long life milk toiletries
- pasta sauces
- rice pudding
Any donations should be taken to your child’s class.
Many thanks, Mrs Towsey
