Year 4 had a fantastic time in Chester. They went to the Grosvenor Museum where they had lots of hands-on activities which were designed to bring Roman Chester to life. These included learning how the Romans cooked and washed themselves and they even had a go at being archaeologists! The Year 4’s favourite part of the trip was when they got to dress up as Roman soldiers with armour and shields. They went on a tour of Chester to the amphitheatre and got to practise shield formations which they really enjoyed!
We had a celebration fire for Red class’ last session. Every child that tried made a spark with a fire steel (all activities are optional at Forest School so one person chose not to). It was very exciting with lots of cheers and applause for each other. We made popcorn over the fire and talked about what makes a fire work and how to put one out. Everyone got busy making their own dens too creating tepee shapes using ropes, sticks and tarpaulins. What a joy Miss McHugh Hill’s Red class are- full of fun, laughter and enthusiasm. If you can be happy in two wet sessions you can cope with anything Red Class! Well done! – Ellie- Two Hoots Outdoor Learning
