Newsletter 15th November

Ranger Rob came into school on Wednesday and showed Year 3 lots of rainforest animals, including snakes, frogs and tarantulas! We all got to hold the animals and stroke them and learnt about how they live.

Year 2 had a fantastic time at Knowsley Safari Park! We went on safari, watching all of the animals in their habitats, stroked some creepy crawlies and used binoculars to find giraffes and meerkats! The children learnt lots and had a brilliant day! Well done to all children for their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm, they represented Heybrook school perfectly!

Year 5 were very lucky with the weather and had a fantastic time on their orienteering trip. They had to read maps in order to find different points around Rivington’s countryside. They went home with rosy cheeks, muddy wellies and tired legs – and huge smiles!

Forest School – Phew!- our site didn’t flood in the recent rain and we had a sunny dry day week. It was all about the beauty of leaves.  We made sticky stick artwork- collecting leaves on our kebab sticks then we hung them up with string so the light could fall through the leaves.  We also played the leaf game- which has an action for all the different shaped leaves that we found- it made us laugh.  It felt colder so everyone was happy to have a warm drink to warm their hands while we sang ‘Autumn Colours’.  School’s new hats and gloves are being well used and the teachers looked great and felt warmer in their fantastic new Heybrook waterproofs. Upcoming trips/visits …..

As part of our Topic work this term, Year 4 classes will be going on a trip to Liverpool Maritime Museum on 19th, 20th, 21st November 2019. The trip will give the children the chance to investigate migration from Britain and explore experiences of migrants in New York. In order for us to arrive at the museum at an appropriate time, we need your children to arrive at school for 8:00am. We are expecting to be back at school at 3.30pm, but we will send you a text when we are about 20 minutes away. Children must be picked up from the front playground. If your child is usually sick during travel, please ensure you give your children a sickness tablet before they arrive at school on the day of the trip. As usual, full school uniform and sensible shoes need to be worn. If your child normally has a packed lunch, they will need to pay for a school packed lunch. For children normally having school meals, lunch will be provided

Thank you to those parents who attended the Y6 Robinwood meeting. If your child is interested in going please return the permission slip as soon as possible, so that we can set up payment details for you on Parentpay.
