Heybrook Primary and Nursery

Heybrook Primary and Nursery School

Welcome to the Heybrook Primary and Nursery school. Heybrook is a large and flourishing Primary school with a Nursery and two year old provision based nearby on a split site.

At Heybrook, we are proud to have served our community in the centre of Rochdale since 1901, welcoming many generations of families into our Heybrook family. We strive to provide the very best standard of education for our children, ensuring they are fully prepared to be knowledgeable and active global citizens. Working in partnership with the local community, parents and governors, we strive for all of children to be happy, healthy, successful and learning together.

Heybrook is a large school with over 700 children and over 100 staff. There are 32 different languages spoken at our school and we feel privileged to celebrate this diversity. Since it's first inspection, Heybrook has consistently been judged as a good school. Its last inspection in 2018 repeated this judgement in every aspect of the school's provision. 2018-2019 was a difficult year for the school with a number of set backs including changes in leadership and extensive unplanned building work being undertaken, meaning children being educated at different sites. However since September 2019, the school has taken great strides to return to providing the excellent standard of education and care for our families.

We are very proud of the work we are doing to develop our curriculum so that our children have a thorough understanding of our core values and build a persistent schema to build on as they move through our school. We strive to teach knowledge that is relevant for our children's lives and empowers them to participate fully in their local and global communities. Please see our curriculum page for more details.

We are proud of the framework of pastoral support we provide for our children and families including a learning mentor, child and family counsellor and pastoral lead. We are proud to work with Manchester University, developing a systematic programme of CPD for all our teachers, especially those early in their career so that our staff feel empowered, trusted and challenged to provide the best quality teaching which our children deserve.

We warmly welcome you to visit our school, either as a prospective parent, member of staff or colleague.
